For the Department of Trade and Industry’s 50,000 sqm campus in Pretoria, Premiere Design Studio provided needs analysis, space planning, interior design, and construction drawings. The project encompassed seven buildings, each designed by different architectural firms, with our role focused on creating unique yet cohesive interiors inspired by the rich heritage of the ancient trade centre, Mapungubwe.  

We ensured the exterior detailing complemented the thematic interiors, incorporating traditional African finishes such as a mud plaster mixed with veld grass. The linked street, reminiscent of an African bush path, leads visitors to the various buildings. Our team featured a historian and art historian to maintain authenticity, drawing inspiration from the Golden Rhino and ancient trade items like ceramic beads, ivory, and copper.
